Earth Day Festival

Photography by Molly Nash

The Earth Day festival was first brought to my attention last year, and I have been looking forward to the experience every since! There is a huge sense of community there. Everyone is there to celebrate OUR Earth! We only have one so we need to treat it right! It is quite something to attend and I would highly recommend it. St. Louis is filled with different celebrations like this including the Festival of Nations, many parades, Fair St. Louis, and others that I have not had the chance to go to.

Mahatma Gandhi  said, “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed.” All of Earth's inhabitants need to learn to appreciate what the Earth brings everyone and what we can bring to the Earth. This can be achieved in many ways including: changing your diet or learning about where your food is coming from and deciding whether this is helping or hurting the Earth, recycling, compost, shorter showers, turning lights off that you're not using, fixing leaks in you house (which will help your bill too), buying locally, and many other things. The Earth has already given us everything it has to offer, and we have inspected it to the best of our ability for hidden gifts, but now is our chance to give back to the Earth!

Enjoy these pictures from the festival and give thanks to your only Earth not just on Earth Day, but all days :)  -Molly

ART

Photography by Maggie, Molly, and Sam Craig

The doofykooks took on another STL adventure last weekend, taking the day to explore different parts of the graffiti wall and Forest Park. There was some skateboarding, (and some falls...), cool statues to be admired, and so much springtime sun to soak up. There really is art everywhere...in the gorgeous graffiti displays, statues, and bridges everywhere, to the radiating sun and vibrant array of colors all around. Saint Louis in the spring is ripe with liveliness and beauty and ART. Even the smiles and the expressions in this shoot are pure art and pure happiness. PURE DOOF. So get out and explore this beautiful city before it gets too sticky, and enjoy this fun shoot. Happy Monday Doofs!
