Museum of Contemporary Art

Just a few days ago, when trying to think of a cool new place to take some pictures and have some fun, I found myself thinking back to high school...I was brought back to a field trip I took, maybe sophomore year. We went to the Museum of Contemporary Art, among other places, and I remembered it to be the coolest place ever. It still is. Molly, Sam and I explored the museum together and took in all of the incredible pieces it offered. Modern art is my favorite because I love how much you can interact with the pieces in an especially emotional way. Instead of a literal representation of something, modern art a lot of times seems to be more of an emotional expression. It's as if the artists' soul becomes the art. We found ourselves enamored with each section of the museum, taking it all in, and finding some nice places to take pictures too. Definitely a must-see in Saint Louis. 

August Playlist

Wow. It's hard to believe it's August already! For all of us school-attending doofs, the summer is coming to an end and reality is about to hit us, so what better thing to use than music? Here's the August playlist-a mix of the kookiness we've been listening to lately. After seeing the G-Eazy concert last month, my obsession with him has yet to die down, so of course we had to include one of his tunes. Other new rap we love includes the unbelievably weird yet amazing Minnesota by Lil Yachty, a new favorite, and I want by Madeintyo. We've got that summer-loving, bubbly music taste covered with tunes by Bombay Bicycle Club, Summer Twins, Habibi, and Au Revoir Simone. As always, the oldies have to make an appearance, so we added some Beatles and The Velvet Underground. Among all of these are some other quirky songs, some from old artists, and some from our new discoveries. We are very excited to showcase an amazing collaboration we took part in not too long ago. Q Liu is a local designer who some of our doofs met at Saint Louis Fashion Week just last fall. She welcomed Molly and Sydney to model for her, and since then, they have gotten to work with her more and more. Recently, Q asked me, Kelly, to work with her, on the other side of things. I got to photograph Sydney in all of Q's incredible handmade garments throughout the back streets of the Delmar Loop, with free reign to do whatever I wanted and create any sort of image I desired. Q's clothes are so unique. They are comfortable and ready to be lived in, but one-of-a-kind, and eye-catching at the same time. We are very grateful to Q for welcoming us into her world, and showing us more of the behind-the-scenes of the fashion world. We look forward to seeing what else she creates.  

July Playlist

The July playlist is here, and full of artists and songs of all different genres. The latest and biggest obsession of ours is Bipolar Sunshine, who makes the most incredible and interesting songs, which is why we included two on this playlist! Once again, we had to add a Drake song, because we still can't get over his new album. For some more old-timey summer fun, we have some tunes by Shannon and the Clams, which will make you want to frolic on a beach somewhere. We also have some Dirty Dancing music in here by Mickey and Sylvia, which, well... make us want to dance. Some cool artists we have been into as well include Lucius, Kaminsky, Tame Impala, and Wild Child. If you're more into rap, we've included James Blake, Chance the Rapper, and Young Thug. And there are more for every occasion or mood or taste. We hope you enjoy, and take these tunes with you this July!
